Spooky Scarecrow

When we have a front yard one day, I'm totally going to lift this idea.  Spooky!
See detailed instructions at Design Mom.

Pumpkin Cauldrons

I've had my eye on these pumpkin serving bowls from Crate & Barrel, but I'm not sure if now is the right time to buy.

Maybe instead I could make my own version (found at Brooklyn Limestone).  (I could serve this weekend's soup in a pumpkin!)

Her directions to make your own "pumpkin cauldron" are:
Find the largest pumpkin possible, cut a large round opening at the top, and then thoroughly remove all of the "guts". Make sure to scoop and remove all of the stringy stuff and stray seeds. Then spray the inside and outside and the top of the pumpkin with cooking spray. Place them separately on a large, greased cookie sheet. Set the oven to 350 degrees, and bake the pumpkin for 1 hour, until the outside has turned a dark golden orange color. Remove, and promptly add your chili (or soup!). The pumpkin will not only provide a great conversation piece, it will also help to keep the chili warm, and offer a lovely pouf of steam each time the top is opened.

Tastes like Fall

Lisa Shin

I saw an article on Real Simple called 3 Delicious Treats to Make With Pumpkin Puree and it made me think of my own favorite treat - Pumpkin Brownies!  It is so easy and much healthier than regular brownies.

You take a box of devil's food cake mix and mix a 15-oz. can of pure pumpkin into it with nothing else -- no egg, no oil -- NOTHING. Then, bake according to the box, minus about five minutes, and you'll get the thickest, FUDGIEST treats ever!

Halloween costumes

I was just looking on Etsy for Halloween costumes and came across the cutest costumes for little girls!  For all of you out there with little ones you should check out Etsy seller Yaya Papaya.  Too cute!

Do you already have a Halloween costume?  What is it going to be?  I'm thinking I should be a vampire - my ode to True Blood and Twilight.

Pumpkins

I'm really stuck on pumpkins!  I just found these pumpkins at Martha Stewart, and I think I could do this!!

Instructions:  drill tiny holds into each pumpkin and use strings of tiny white lights to illuminate!

I'll post pictures if I end up doing this!  I did hint to Omar that this weekend I would love to go to a pumpkin patch where we could pick our own pumpkins!  I looked up some places on yelp and Clancy's Christmas Trees & Pumpkin Patch looks promising.  (Don't even get me started on Christmas trees.  It's a good thing Christmas tree lots don't start getting trees until Thanksgiving because I would definitely buy one sooner!)

Fall is here!

i’m so excited that October is finally here! i love the fall, and can’t wait to pick up pumpkins for the house.

i recently saw these at Pottery Barn Kids and think they are the cutest, especially since I don't carve pumpkins!

if i did carve pumpkins though i would want to do something like this.  i had torn this picture out of a magazine last year and just stumbled across it at Sunset.
